Caracteriza-se por perda brusca e completa de pelos em uma ou mais \u00e1reas do couro cabeludo, podendo afetar tamb\u00e9m outras regi\u00f5es (barba, superc\u00edlio, p\u00fabis etc), sem sinais inflamat\u00f3rios e de atrofia de pele.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A alopecia areata n\u00e3o \u00e9 contagiosa. Diversos fatores est\u00e3o envolvidos no seu desenvolvimento, como a gen\u00e9tica e a participa\u00e7\u00e3o autoimune. Fatores emocionais, traumas f\u00edsicos e quadros infecciosos podem desencadear ou agravar o quadro.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A alopecia areata n\u00e3o possui nenhum outro sintoma al\u00e9m da perda brusca de cabelos, com \u00e1reas arredondadas, \u00fanicas ou m\u00faltiplas, sem demais altera\u00e7\u00f5es. A pele \u00e9 lisa e brilhante e os pelos ao redor da placa saem facilmente se forem puxados. A forma mais comum \u00e9 uma placa \u00fanica, arredondada, com 1 a 5 cm de di\u00e2metro, que ocorre geralmente no couro cabeludo e barba, conhecida popularmente como pelada.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A extens\u00e3o dessa perda varia, sendo que, em alguns casos, poucas regi\u00f5es s\u00e3o afetadas. Em outros, a perda de cabelo pode ser maior. H\u00e1 casos raros de alopecia areata total, nos quais o paciente perde todo o cabelo da cabe\u00e7a; ou alopecia areata universal, na qual caem os pelos de todo o corpo.
